Wept like a little girl,  :' (even though I had all the faith in the world that Charlie would be okay.  I personally like Charlie, so I was happy.  He lives another day!  It really really was a beautiful episode.  It was nice to see an example of a father doing something good with one of the Survivors- uh oh- he doesn't have as much of a daddy issue- maybe he is a goner!   Undecided

Rose and Bernard- oh how we missed you. I shouted when they came on the screen.

I'm on pins and needles.  It's going to be a full night of TV watching with a little Lost catch up tomorrow.

So...will Charlie die next week??  I've been wrong about at least 75% of the things I've predicted on Lost, so I'm reluctant to say...but my gut is telling me he won't.  That would be just a little too neat.

Sayid, Bernard and Jin are another story, though.

And I like Brian's prediction that some people will be rescued or appear to be rescued.  But wait: didn't that happen in the Season 2 finale?

I haven't gone back to the Blast Door Map, but I'm wondering...is the Looking Glass on there somehow?  Could it be the big "?"HuhHuhHuh

And will Locke come in to save the day, or will we have to wait till 2008 to see his fate?  (Hey, I'm a poet!)

This is supposed to be about "Greatest Hits" and all I'm talkin' 'bout is the future--but let's face it: "Greatest Hits" was pretty straightforward...up until the end.

Can't wait for the big finish!

Whoa!  Great episode.  I feel awesome being halfway right about the cable.  I have to admit, I was completely shocked when there were people on the Looking Glass station.  I know I'm getting ahead of the game, but wouldn't it make sense for the Looking Glass to be the island entry point.  Obviously it was the way into wonderland.  It would also validate all our theories about the sub not being the only way on or off the island.  The actual way onto the island is through the Looking Glass.  So, wouldn't Desmond have seen people down there in his vision?  Did he not see them or was he hiding that for a reason?  I really don't know what to think now about who's going to die.  I was convinced it would be Charlie, but now I'm not so sure.

Great Post Brian!  I agree, this is going to be the best finale of any show ever for all time!

To answer my own question:

The "?" on the Blast Door Map is supposedly definitely The Pearl.  The Looking Glass might be the station labeled "C3?" with the note "why so many Dharmatel relays in such an untenable location?"

I wondered about that too. Wouldn't Desmond have seen the people in his vision? I assume he did, which is why he went with Charlie, and possibly why he offered to go down there instead of him. He probably did not count on Charlie knocking him out though. We can see in the preview that Desmond seems to have followed Charlie down there, and he has a weapon. Next week should be insane, and, best of all, the season finale airs on my birthday. Smiley

Ok a few points.

#1.) Everyone on this Island has a purpose and a reason for being put on the Island by fate. We now know that Claire's purpose of being there was to make it so Charlie could save the day. Let me explain a bit. The Psychic puts Claire on the plane and says she HAS to be the one to raise Aaron. If she had not gone on the plane or if she had but given up Aaron then Charlie would never have been emotionally invested enough to sacrifice himself for the good of a whole group.

2.)  I'm pretty sure that Hurley knows that Charlie didn't plan on coming back. Charlie has always been open and honest with Hurley and this time he wasn't, I think Hurley could tell and that is why he went right back to help Claire. Hurley knows what it is like to lose someone he loved, he will be able to support Claire when Charlie doesn't come back right away.

3.) The whole conversation between Desmond and Charlie in the boat about who should go got me thinking. What if Charlie does drown at some point and Desmond "rescues" his body and does CPR. Assuming Charlie woke back up would that end the curse? He would have died just like Desmond saw.

I have a few other thoughts but need time to sort them out. haha.

Jason - I love the idea of Charlie dying and Desmond resuscitating him!

After this episode I truly like Charlie and am sad at the prospect of him being gone!

It was a beautiful episode.
Charlie and Hurley's goodbye made me cry. :'(

But did Charlie really need to hit Desmond so hard?! Angry

Brian~ have a good trip and come back safe! Smiley

So what do you all think? Was Ben simply lying to Juliet et al about The Looking Glass being flooded? Or was it actually flooded and got fixed? Or were the other Others lying to Ben about it being flooded?

My head hurts.

I think Ben is lying about it and has his "super-secret" allies running the station for him...just another form of manipulation of all those around him.

I didn't notice this at first, but everyone in the Looking Glass was a woman.  Could these be the supposedly dead mothers?  Juliet said the nursery is where they take the mothers to die.  What if that is just a diversion and someone then moves them to the Looking Glass station.  Maybe Ben doesn't know.  Maybe the island originals are doing it for some reason.  I'm not sure what to think, but I'm sure they were all women for a reason.

Desmond might not have seen the women in the station, he might have skipped that part in his flashes, but I don't want to speculate too much on that... too many weird possibilities floating in my head right now.

BIG SCORE on the Driveshaft Greatest Hits already being sold Cheesy hehe Charlie will have some big royalties waiting (assuming he survives, which is still all to play for.)

Looking glass not flooded... hmm. Tricksy, tricksy. Was it pumped? Need to rewatch and see if there are any traces or water-damage (or seaweed/barnacles and the like) on the walls in the sub bay. Gut tells me it was never flooded though.

And Brian, my guess is Sayid got hit Looking Glass plans from the Flame - he probably bagged a few from that file (along with the Barracks plans).

Oh this is good stuff!

I cried like a baby, even though I wasn't sure if Charlie would really die.  They did a great job of making it beautiful (as Brian said) without being too sappy.

What was the deal with Alex butchering the white rabbit?  How does that play into the Alice in Wonderland theme?  Now Ben has gone all evil, so the rabbit gets offed?

This comment by Matt in the blog is PRICELESS:
"Please tell me the line "if you're going to be hiding in the bushes, we'd better get you into something dark" was meant to be interpreted the way I interpreted it. Because I was laughing for five solid minutes after that. Best line in the series. Unless I'm just being inappropriate."

I would bet that Michael and Walt turn up in the Looking Glass station, and all those women are the moms who supposedly didn't make it.  But, how does that pan out?  Why would they be content to have lost their children and still keep people off the island?  Wouldn't they be fighting to get them back?  Unless they were told that the babies died and the only way to prevent similar things from happening was by protecting the island.  OOOO, OOOO!  And didn't Ben say that they one guy (can't think of his name - pretended to be a survivor...) was a surgeon?  Maybe he was helping to "fake" the mothers' deaths.  But then why do they need Juliet in on it?  Must be some real danger involved in dying in childbirth, or maybe they just needed her to figure out how to help them have more children because children are the key to the Island's power (or they just have the ability to see all the secret stuff like Jacob)...

Okay - totally rambling here.  Sorry.  One thing I loved was that Vincent was with them on the trek along the beach.  Toto lives!  Smiley
