Was it worth the wait? Probably not...

Ha.  You always seem to sell yourself short on the free service you are providing to countless readers.  Shouldn't do that.  Wink

Not much to add, except that the more I read of your analyses, the more I think that my predictions are aligning quite closely with your own.  Whether this means you or I are on to something is another matter, for I long ago decided that the Lost writers are shrewder in thought than even my admittedly fertile mind.

I'll need to think a bit about where they will be going to close out the season.  I expected that the last two seasons would be tying things up, but half way through they haven't really done that in any large measure this year.  Most of the answers we receive are to mysteries presented recently or ones that are of little consequence.  Do we really know much more than the first time we heard the machine scream of the smoke monster in the jungle?  Yet more questions abound in each episode.  I'm beginning to think that, at the end, we will be left in awe of the genius of it all, or sorely disappointed that every tiny thing that made us wonder wasn't answered sufficiently.

I, of course, choose to continue to believe the former.

I think your analysis was a good expansion on the instant reactions, and it helped flesh some things out for me.  I still think though that it would be a little weird for the writers to put things so prominently in an episode (the ankh necklace and the one the four-toed statue held, as well as Baby Goodspeed) and then just have them be plot devices.  It's just not LOST-like!  But, who knows.  Maybe they are just as tired of having to make everything have deeper meaning as we are of trying to figure it out!   Tongue

If I had the chance, I'd ask Darlton if they honestly have put as much thought and complexity into all the references and plot lines/devices/etc. as the fans have made them out to be.  Wouldn't it be funny if they just had a few ideas in mind, but the interest and rabid research of the fans led them to use those ideas in the show?  Kind of a cool thought.

Anyway, I'm bummed there's a re-run this week!  I thought they promised not to do that in the last two seasons..... ?

P.S.  I've done this before and I hope it's not a horribly rude thing to do, but one other blog that's helped me figure a lot of this out is Doc Jensen's online writings for Entertainment Weekly!  (Please just take that reference out if it's not cool!)  Smiley

Who are Carl's parents and where did he come from?  If Baby goodspeed would be 25 (1977 to 2004 for a character we may have already seen), I think that puts Carl alil over (and by alittle, i mean a lot) the age cap as I'm pretty sure he was like 16-18, but who knows.

My only thinking there is if the Others couldn't have kids... then why would they kill them in the purge?  They took Alex originally from CFL.  They took the 2 kids from 815.  Why wouldn't they take the kids from the DHARMA right before the purge?  I mean... they took Alex in the 80's and the purge was in the 90's, so why not take the kids, granted Baby Goodspeed would be 15 by the time the purge happened, but I still think they'd want younger people to brainwash and covert to otherism.

Maybe they didn't kill the kids... did we ever get confirmation that the kids were not spared?  Maybe that was why the Dharma women were taken off Island to have their children.  If they stayed, they were in danger of the Others taking their children since they couldn't have their own.  Huh

Maybe that was part of the anger between the two groups.  If the Others were not able to have babies even before Dharma arrived, they would be pretty desperate and might even take the Dharma babies that were born (or take Alex from CFL, but somehow the Dharmites got her first?  Just theorizing out loud...
