Nice. Nothing mind-blowing, but I like Miles and I LOVE Miles and Hurley together. Like Damon and Carlton said, definitely on the lighter side in terms of action / mythology.

Seriously, everyone has daddy issues.

The dude's name is Bram? There is only one Bram I can think of off the top of my head and he wrote a little vampire book.

Loved the episode! Wonder what Sawyer is going to do with Radzinsky?!
I knew Miles would see his dad bouncing his baby self on his knee! So glad I was right. Smiley
Brian's right, Pierre was saving his family. Miles has got to confide in his dad!
What was the Egyptian lesson on the blackboard in the classroom behind Jack?  Huh
Glad the 3.2 million was explained, I remember puzzling over that one.

Brian, enjoy your vacation. Maybe you'll find time to rent a movie or two....you know the ones!

I'm guessing he used that time to learn everything he could about the Island and time travel (maybe starting his journal full of notes that he would later bring to the Island in 2004)

Couldn't really start the journal now, based on what we've learned about the time travel rules. While it's obviously before 2004 in calendar time, on Farraday's time line this is still happening "now", well after he arrived on the island, and thus already did most of his journal writing, right?

That was Phill, dude, not Radzinsky Smiley

The scenes with Hurley and Miles were fantastic, I loved them.

By the way, we got that swan and orchid were being built to Others' territory which was forbidden right? Maybe it is the reason for the Purge.

Any explanation for dead man brought to Orchid? Will he be resurrected?

Shadow of the Statue leader = Richard Alpert (interesting that he also likes to dress in black like the shadow of the statue folks)

What lies in the shadow of the statue = "Jughead"

Both interesting possibilities.....

A.  I still can't believe you weren't a Star Wars geek Brian!  Although, you were probably not even born until after they were all made!  (The original three, that is).

B.  I really liked this episode, although it felt like a bit of a throw away one.  But anything that has Miles and Hurley together is becoming some of my favorite stuff.  Hurley is able to get people to open up and confide in him without them feeling pressured.  He's such a sweet soul (awwwww).  Maybe he'll help Miles become a little more human and not so money hungry.

C.  I also wondered about the Egyptian lesson behind Jack in the classroom.  Has to be significant in some way, or just a reminder of the Island's ancient origins.  Also, I thought Roger looked more pissed and ready to make trouble for Kate after Jack talked to him than like he would just leave her alone.

D.  Could Hurley really have given his Empire Strikes Back screenplay to George Lucas and it would become the movie?  And if Miles says to Chang "Hey, I'm your son 30 years in the future" wouldn't Chang remember that from then on in HIS timeline and when he encountered Miles?  I'm losing my grip on understanding the time travel stuff (and I was SO sure I had finally gotten it)!   Cheesy     Also, what about there being 2 Miles's in one place?  COULD Miles actually come into contact with his baby self?  Would that even be possible?  I read a theory that says that they could NOT come into contact or there would be a paradox, just like Chang didn't want the rabbits to see each other in that one experiment.  It also mused about a scene that might happen where Chang was maybe walking around the complex with baby Miles and comes upon adult Miles and asks if he wants to hold the baby - if he does (can?), maybe the consequence is that baby Miles gets his special powers to hear dead people.  Huh

E.  I think Richard could definitely be the leader of the Shadow of the Statue (should we shorten that to SoTS?), but I also get the feeling he MUST be from the future (which is why he doesn't age).  I'm not sure Jughead really has that much to do with any of this, I'm more inclined to think it's the electromagnetic "core" thing that they find, or the temple.

I'm bummed about the clip show next week, but hopefully after that we'll be FULL STEAM AHEAD!

I think the only thing you're missing is the question you asked.  "wouldn't Chang remember that from then on in HIS timeline and when he encountered Miles?"   When does he encounter Miles?  If Miles and Change had met in 2004 or something, then it might be an issue, but we haven't seen chang but in these old videos and in this timeline correct?  If he dies in the purge then there is no way he'll meet "older Miles" again in the future.  If Chang meet Miles in say the year 2000 and said he, I remember you when you were 5 years older and back on the island, that is wierd, but I don't believe that happens at all.

Loved Miles and Hurley together

Really loved that Hurley is re-writing Empire Strikes Back because "Dude, the Ewoks suck!"

When they ask "What lies in the shadow of the statue" I don't think the answer is a "thing BEING physically in the shadow" I think lies is more refering to "he is a liar" so therefore, since the Island judges people, perhaps the super-secret answer to "What lies in the shadow of the statue" would be: " An unjust man lies in the shadow of the statue and does not get redemption" and thus is judged to be not worthy....

Do I get to join the Statue team now??

Ben:
I guess what I really meant is, if Miles says "I'm your son" wouldn't Chang remember that from then on, even if he never sees Miles again?  I'm sure the explanation is that in the overall timeline, Miles didn't go back to tell Chang that until it was 2008, so it hadn't happened in Chang's past.... wait... no...  ugh!

Katie,
Chang can remember it until the cows come home.  We have not seen him in the future and have had him not know that Miles was his son.  The problem we had before with Ben/Sayid is that Ben grows up and meets "2004 Sayid" in 2004, so the question was why didn't "1977 Ben" know "2004 Sayid" already.  We have yet to see Chang in anything besides old times.  And I'm guessing he dies in the purge.   So it doesn't really matter if he tells him.   Does that help?

Haha! Katie  I don't even try to figure it out!
I definitely am in the "Love Hurley & Miles togther" camp.  I didn't think I liked Miles at first, but have always loved Hurley.  He is so kind. And definitely he is the calming influence that allows people to open up and confide in him. Such an awesome character.  I just have to disagree with him on the Ewok thing, I loved them, loved their treehouse village, and the amazing battle in the forest of Endor on the flying motorcycles is one of my favorite action sequences in the the original SW movies.
And Brian, the Star Wars movies are not a kid thing.  The first one came out the year I graduated from High School, and the 3rd one came out the year my first child was born.  You need to see them.
