Excellent analysis-

I'm getting excited!  It would be cute if Vincent pulled a Toto  Cheesy  Are there any other small Wizard references that other people have noticed?  Hasn't Locke been every single character so far, definitely cowardly!

As always my head spins at how Brian does previews.  Would it be weird to say that I think of Brian as a Jacob-like figure.   Undecided

The pictures I have seen of young Ben are pretty good. They found a good look-alike.

Well, if we're comparing Jacob to The Wizard, why can't Jacob be a combination of Ben (or some Other) and Smokey?  The Wizard/Jacob/Ben controls Smokey using some sort of advanced Dharma technology, allowing Smokey to appear as different things to different people.  Maybe Vincent digs and finds the actual ?? Hatch from the door map, revealing Smokey as nothing more than an elaborate technological invention.

Smokey is probably too large of a reveal for this kind of episode, and Smokey seems to volatile and hostile to be controlled, but I'm intrigued nonetheless.

And I agree with whoever said Kate is pregnant.  Remember Juliet said she still needed to collect Kate's "sample".  This would also explain Jack's disconnect from Kate.

Wasn't Jack referred to as a "great leader" or something in the Thailand flashback episode?
Jacob is referred to in the same tone of speech. A clue maybe?

Just a thought.

Mmm, few points to mull over...

Brian, I'd have to say regarding Maikail surviving/resurrecting where Pickett, Ethan, Colleen, Klugh etc. havn't would be down to the fact that they were shot - presumably the fence doesn't damage the body badly enough to make healing impossible in the same way that a bullet does.

I agree that Ben is very likely triple-conning Jack and Juliette - or at the very least he intended Locke to get that dictaphone to them.

Thomas, Jack was referred to as a great leader, this is true, and somewhat intriguing... perhaps, rather than Jack = Jacob, this was forshadowing that Jack will take charge and lead the combined forces of the Survivors and the Others?

Ben, the whole sample thing I don't know about - remember, she said she was getting samples from ALL the women. Presumably this means either a urine sample (lord knows how she'd get that) or a sample of menstrual fluid perhaps? (and I have even LESS idea how she'd get THAT.) Either way, Kate might well be pregnant, but if she is then the Others don't know - and I don't think she knows herself either.

One final thing, which is actually from the brig, but never mind... Sawyer's dossier seemed to me to be proof that all of the Others' information on our survivors comes through official channels - medical records, police records, things of that nature, and not some psychic/mystical craziness (which is what many of us have been saying all along).

Can't wait to d/l this - hope the torrent goes up quick after the episode airs!

I *love* the idea of Vincent "unmasking" Ben as his triumphal return!

What has Vincent been up to lately, anyways, since he found Roger Workman's skeletal remains?

Though there's no official channel (I assume) that knows that Sawyer killed that dude in Australia.

As long as we're maintaining the comments area and the forum, I'll post in both.  In the comments section we were talking about Roger "Workman" Linus.

>I have to agree with everyone. When I first saw "Roger" and the episode preview, I thought of Roger Workman. Learning it's Roger Linus adds a whole realm of possibilities. Maybe Ben is lying about being born on the island and is really just the son of a Dharma employee. The idea of Dharma hiring an island native is intriguing too. I struggle with the concept of island natives being able to adopt a new culture sufficiently to be able to be employed on a "modern" installation. Has anyone considered the possibility of a "Swiss Family Robinson" type situation. Maybe Ben's parents crashed on the island and he was born later rather than being an island native. That would at least help explain how he could be born on the island and yet adapt to technology and civilization so easily. I'm just throwing out ideas. Anyone?

hella_goodsd~ One small Wizard of Oz moment I noticed was when the Mrs. Hawking and Desmond saw the scaffolding fall on the guy with the red sneakers. (Dorothy's house falling on the Wicked Witch's Sister)
Why else would he be wearing those Red Chucks?!

I just had an idea...
We've been discussing if Jacob is real or not. What if he was real at one point and something happend (the incident) and Ben is leading the others to believe that he is still around but knows he isn't...hmmm....

It was at least 60 days after the crash that communications were cut off. Once the police found the body, I'm sure they'd be able to get evidence. And since Sawyer was in jail, they'd have a record to match with. I'm sure Mikhail was ordered to keep an eye on updates to the records until communications were cut off.
